MyAcademicWorkshop is a standalone learning management environment that is designed to facilitate education. Used by students, teachers, home schools and educational institutions, MyAcademicWorkshop is pre-loaded with content that is learning objective based and algorithmic in nature. MyAcademicWorkshop allows for limitless review of concepts, self-paced skill and drill, and independent student testing.
Content available in MyAcademicWorkshop can be provided by LSI or created by your institution for custom-tailored educational needs. Content takes the form of algorithmic questions that are rarely multiple-choice. Practice exercises and quizzes are automatically placed into the appropriate section, allowing students to access them for self-paced practice and instructors to assign them as homework.
Advantages over Competing Products
- Instructors can create their own questions via the authoring interface, which has both a simple and complex mode, allowing both novices and experts to use the system to their fullest capabilities.
- Instructors can edit any question available in the library (creating their own custom copy of that question) to change the wording of the question or the randomization range of any variables.
- Complete support for algorithmic and static questions, including the ability for an instructor to import test banks from WebCT, Blackboard, and other course management systems.
- MyAcademicWorkshop offers tolerance for student’s diverse answers. Students using MyAcademicWorkshop can answer in a variety of acceptable manners, such as .5 or ½ or 5x10-1.
- Instructors may establish guidelines for the system to follow as it auto-grades assignments. Instructors also control MyAcademicWorkshop's capability to assess such issues as significant digits or account for rounding errors, making it just like a hand graded assignment.
- Multiple answer types, such as user input tools and answer palettes that minimize dependency on multiple-choice type questions for auto-graded assessment.
Reports: MyAcademicWorkshop provides custom reports that provide detailed data about a student’s progress throughout a course, such as individual assignment grades, student usage statistics, and comparisons of student answers and correct answers.
